The treasure-filled planet of Pandora will make its way to Sony’s PlayStation Vita handheld sometime next year, the company has confirmed. It seems that the device, which has had a somewhat hard time finding its footing since its early 2012 launch date, will actually end up receiving a port of Borderlands 2 like many had speculated. That’s good news for those who wish to take Claptrap and his vault-hunting pals with them wherever they go.
Is this the start of something big? Maybe, as this decision may spur more developers and publishers to look into porting their big budget console titles onto the impressively powerful Vita. Of course, a lot will depend on this experiment’s sales. News of an official price drop surely won’t hurt things, though.
Like its predecessor, Borderlands 2 is one of the best games to have come out of this generation. Both of the lengthy RPGs are incredibly addictive, not to mention chock full of personality and polished gameplay. However, unlike the two console titles, the series’ first handheld venture will be handled by a new studio – that being Divekick‘s Iron Galaxy Studios.
