Toy Story Of Terror Trailer Promises Pixar-Style Horror

While we might not be getting a Toy Story 4 any time soon, I'm sure that you did not really think that we had seen the last of Woody, Buzz and the rest of them. On October 16th, ABC will be premiering a half-hour long Halloween special from Pixar titled Toy Story of Terror and it will feature all of our favorite characters.

While we might not be getting a Toy Story 4 any time soon, I’m sure that you did not really think that we had seen the last of Woody, Buzz and the rest of them. On October 16th, ABC will be premiering a half-hour long Halloween special from Pixar titled Toy Story of Terror and it will feature all of our favorite characters.

Toy Story of Terror takes on a Psycho vibe as the toys come face to face with a nameless terror while their owner Bonnie and her family stop at a roadside hotel on a dark and stormy night. A clip released today from ABC mostly shows the toys creeping around without revealing much about the plot. There’s plenty of Pixarian humor and an edge of actual terror, though, which promises an enjoyable half-hour.

Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and all the rest are back voicing their original characters for the Halloween special, which was produced by the Canadian Pixar team best known for several Toy Story-based shorts. The cast also includes Kristen Schaal, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn and Timothy Dalton, which is a pretty impressive line-up for a half-hour show.

My enjoyment of Toy Story only went up from the original film, which I found to be just a little bit dull, and I’m excited to see what they do with Toy Story of Terror. The one fear I have for all these Pixar shorts based around the franchise is that it might wind up stretching the characters too thin, hopefully that’s not the case though.

You can watch the latest trailer for Toy Story of Terror below and let us know what you think in the comments. Is Pixar trying to stretch out the Toy Story thing into infinity and beyond, or does this look like a good time?

Toy Story of Terror will premiere on ABC on October 16.
