New Set Pics From Game Of Thrones Season Four

While we anxiously await the return of HBO’s Game of Thrones, we’ve gotten various bits of information regarding the upcoming season, including several different casting announcements for many roles great and small. One of the roles that we recently got word of was the casting of Icelandic actor Haffthor Bjornsson as Gregor Clagane (aka “The Mountain Who Rides”). Apparently it didn’t take them too long to put him to work as he’s prominently featured in the first batch of behind the scenes stills that found their way online today.

UPDATE: As an added bonus, we’ve also thrown in some additional set pics of Emilia Clarke (Daenerys), some slaves, and her army of Unsullied filming in Croatia (via Winteriscoming.net).

While we anxiously await the return of HBO’s Game of Thrones, we’ve recieved various bits of information regarding the upcoming season, including several different casting announcements. One of the roles that we recently got word of was the casting of Icelandic actor Haffthor Bjornsson as Gregor Clagane (aka “The Mountain That Rides”). For those familiar with George R.R. Martin’s novels, you know that The Mountain has a rather important battle coming up in the fourth season. According to Comic Book Movie, these pictures, as well as the accompanying video, were taken “in and around” the shooting of the infamous battle, though that’s clearly not his actual opponent at the end of his sword.  Whoever it was though apparently did something worthy of earning The Mountain’s wrath.

Along with the pics of Bjornsson are a few pictures of sets being constructed. It’s hard to tell what’s being built exactly, but with the giant lion’s head sitting around on the set, you can be sure it has something to do with The Lannisters. The final pic also features what looks to be the back of Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and the return of Ser Dontos.

It’s hard to believe we still have six whole months to wait before season four premieres, but as usual, you can bet it will be worth the wait. We’ve already heard from Kit Harington (Jon Snow) that this season will have more deaths than any other and that it will be action-packed. If that doesn’t get fans excited, then I don’t know what will.

Season four of Game of Thrones is scheduled to begin this spring and will cover the latter half of the third novel of Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, A Storm of Swords.
