Is It Dark Enough Yet In This New Thor: The Dark World TV Spot?

Is it just me or are there a lot of apocalyptic scenarios going around? It seems like superheroes don't really save people in distress or children from burning buildings any more, but rather have to SAVE THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE from some sort of darkness. First the world nearly came crashing down in The Avengers, then Man of Steel saved all of humankind by destroying a large part of it. Now we have Thor: The Dark World, where an ancient darkness will strike and...you know the drill.

Is it just me or are there a lot of apocalyptic scenarios going around? It seems like superheroes don’t really save people in distress or children from burning buildings any more, but rather have to SAVE THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE from some sort of darkness. First the world nearly came crashing down in The Avengers, then the Man of Steel saved all of humankind by destroying a large part of it. Now we have Thor: The Dark World, where an ancient darkness will strike and…you know the drill.

Today sees the release of a new TV spot for Thor: The Dark World, and it looks enjoyable enough. Nothing really new here: Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is back as the dark horse we all love, Chris Hemsworth looks most muscle-bound and delicious as Thor, and of course we have the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Thor’s main human squeeze.

There’s some new action that we have not seen before, and promises of superhero violence and powerful speeches abound. In other words: this is pretty much what you expect from the sequel to Thor. I have no doubt that it will be a lot of fun, if the world doesn’t end first.

The plot of Thor: The Dark World, by the way, has to do with Thor fighting Christopher Eccleston as Malekith, the leader of an ancient race who has returned to plunge everything into darkness. Will Thor’s romance with Jane survive the destruction of the galaxy? Can Loki’s hair get any more fabulous? And who will cameo next? You know you want to find out.

Thor: The Dark World comes to theatres on November 8th, which means that we have another month of teasers, trailers, behind-the-scenes, interviews and TV spots to look forward to.

You can watch the latest TV spot for Thor: The Dark World below, along with two shorter clips. Then, let us know what you think in the comment section.
