Prolific filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has chosen the Grindhouse-esque month of October to present us with what he feels are the Top Ten theatrical releases for the calendar year of 2013. Despite there being a few months left to go before we officially hit 2014, the always unpredictable director has deemed this a perfect time to share with us his picks for what he feels are the best that Hollywood had to offer in 2013.

You’ll notice that it is a varied list, which includes independent films amongst more mainstream fare (like this weekend’s smash-hit Gravity), as well as peculiar selections (the most glaringly evident being Disney’s much-maligned and critically chastised box office disaster The Lone Ranger). Much like the director himself, the list is eclectic and provides a fascinating insight into his mindset.

Below are Quentin Tarantino’s selections for the best films of 2013:

1. Afternoon Delight (Jill Soloway)
2. Before Midnight (Richard Linklater)
3. Blue Jasmine (Woody Allen)
4. The Conjuring (James Wan)
5. Drinking Buddies (Joe Swanberg)
6. Frances Ha (Noah Baumbach)
7. Gravity (Alfonso Cuarón)
8. Kick Ass 2 (Jeff Wadlow)
9. The Lone Ranger (Gore Verbinski)
10. This Is The End (Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg)

So, what do you think? Interesting list, eh? Feel free to head down to the comments below and let us know whether or not you agree with Quentin Tarantino.
