Chloe Moretz Will Become One Of The November Criminals For Sacha Gervasi

Not content with playing it safe and sticking to roles more suited for her age, Chloe Moretz has decided to take on another mature, and darker part. The Wrap is reporting that the young actress will star in November Criminals, an adaptation of Sam Munson's novel that is set to be directed by Hitchcock helmer Sacha Gervasi (who has replaced Lisa Cholodenko).

Though she isn’t set to play the main character, Moretz will take on the lead female role in the film, which has a script from Eastern Promises writer Steven Knight. Focusing on a Washington, D.C. student who finds himself in over his head when he tries to solve the death of a fellow student, the project sounds like it could be another great career choice for the young actress.

Check out the full plot synopsis below:

For a high school senior Addison Schacht has a lot of preoccupations, like selling drugs to his classmates, getting into college, and his complicated relationship with his best friend (NOT his girlfriend) Digger. And he’s just added another to the list: the murder of his classmate Kevin Broadus, and his own obsessive plan to investigate the death. When presented with an essay question on his application to the University of Chicago–What are your best and worst qualities?–Addison finds himself provoked into giving his final, unapologetic say about all of the above and more, and the thrilling result is an unforgettable trip through the Washington, D.C. teenage underworld.

Moretz will play a character named Phoebe, though we don’t have any other details on the role at this time. As for the main character, Addison, it’s apparently a “hotly-contested” part and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a big name star snag it.

It’s no secret that Chloe Moretz is one of the hottest actresses in Hollywood right now, continuing to surprise and impress critics with each new film she puts out. She’s incredibly talented and I love seeing her take on roles like this. It makes it hard to remember that she’s only 16 years old. Most actresses her age are appearing in much different films than what Moretz shows up in and it’s nice to see the young talent really testing herself with more serious and weighty material.

Production on November Criminals is set to begin in January 2014. In the meantime, tell us, who do you want to see take the lead role? Let us know in the comments below.
