European fans of Assassin’s Creed won’t have to wait longer than their North American counterparts for the release of the next chapter in Ubisoft’s franchise, as the company has announced that the European launch date for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has been moved up from its original November 1st slot, to October 29th. This synchronizes with the North American launch date, allowing for a global pirate love-fest on day one.

It’s important to note that the late-October release date only applies to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers, with a next-gen release date to coincide with the launch of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in November. PC and Wii U versions of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag are still slated for a November 22nd release.

In Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, gamers will take control of Edward Kenney, a pirate captain trained by the Assassins. Wielding flintlock pistols and cutlass swords, there will be over fifty locales to explore in the open world, on both land and sea. If that isn’t enough to warrant a purchase, there will also be encounters with legendary pirates such as Blackbeard and Calico Jack.

To accompany the announcement of the simultaneous global release, Ubisoft has unleashed a new video for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, full of pirates, mischief, and swashbuckling watery mayhem! Protagonist Edward Kenney is featured alongside some hints to the main storyline and a dramatic Jerry Bruckheimer-esque movie score!
