DICE are completely focussed on delivering what could quite possibly be the strongest entry to the military FPS niche we’ve ever seen – it could put the entire Call Of Duty franchise on the backburner for a generation. The punch line is Battlefield 3 and this something you have to watch, or at least try to make the effort to.

EA have been feeding the online community this little trailer series since the beginning of march and it sure has some stuff to show off. It’s called fault line and the third episode launched yesterday, all footage is taken from the game. In a recent interview with OPM, DICE revealed they are now using what is called ‘deferred rendering’ in the Frostbite 2 engine, which is basically the technological wizardry that is responsible for making games like Killzone 3 and LittleBigPlanet 2 look so sexy.

The magazine said “Battlefield 3 isn’t so much treading on COD’s territory so much as trampling all over it and setting up base-camp”. I don’t think anyone can disagree with that, this could wipe that smug look off Activision’s face. I’ve linked in all the videos so far for those who may have missed them the first time.
