We’ve heard a lot about Marvel‘s plans for their cinematic universe lately, and with this fall’s expansion into live-action TV as well, it seems there is going to be ample opportunity for plenty of characters to pop up somewhere on screen.

Two popular heroes who may be showing up in a Marvel film sometime in the near future are Daredevil and the Punisher, as President Kevin Feige says they’re currently trying to figure out what to do with Frank Castle and the Man Without Fear.

This past weekend, Feige was speaking at a press junket for Thor: The Dark World and Bleeding Cool was able to get him to dish on some of the darker Marvel characters. Here’s what he had to say:

We’re trying to figure out what to do with Daredevil now. Punisher could show up at one point. You know, once we get characters back into the Marvel fold we don’t want to do something right away, we want to do the smart thing at the smart time.

While that quote doesn’t reveal anything about specific plans, I’m very glad they’re at least discussing possibilities for Daredevil. He’s always been on of my favorite heroes, and the Ben Affleck film obviously didn’t do him justice. While some have said recently that they think Daredevil would be better suited for the small screen, I’m sticking by another feature film for him. Reboot the character, but don’t necessarily feel the need to tie him in with the rest of the Marvel heroes. Sure, there could be a few small cross-overs, but I don’t think Thor popping up in Matthew Murdock’s law office would be the best route to go.

In terms of the Punisher, I don’t think his previous films are nearly the wreck that Daredevil is, but I’m certainly not opposed to a reboot for him as well. The way Feige phrased that makes it sound more like he’s going to make an appearance, or simply be a supporting player in one of the other productions planned, but we won’t really know anything until further details are made public.

In the 2005 Punisher video game Murdock made a cameo as Punisher’s lawyer, so maybe bringing both of them up in the same quote was Feige’s way of saying that’s the sort of plot we should be looking for. Unlikely I know, but if by some stroke of fate it does happen, remember that you heard it here first.

What do you think of Marvel working on Daredevil and Punisher movies? Are you excited to see these characters head back to the big screen? Head down to the comments section to share your thoughts.
