At a time when we’re inundated by Star Wars casting, the future of the Marvel franchises and whether or not Fifty Shades of Grey will be the worst movie ever made, it’s actually nice to have a rumor that does not involve superheroes or S&M obsessed executives. Don’t you agree?

This past weekend, rumors surfaced once more that Tim Burton will be involved in the projected Beetlejuice 2, written by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg.

We’ve already heard that Burton was planning to drop out of his next project, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, which would leave the field open to head over to Beetlejuice 2. According to The Schmoes Know podcast though, Burton has now rearranged his schedule to allow him to do both Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Beetlejuice 2.

Unfortunately, this story has not had an official corroboration, so we can just file it in the rumor pile for now.

Burton’s potential involvement in Beetlejuice 2 has been on the docket for quite awhile. Grahame-Smith and Katzenberg both wanted him involved with the sequel in some capacity, but this is the first time that we’ve heard any rumors about him actually directing the film.

Though we don’t know much about the plot for the sequel, we do know that it will pick up twenty years after the first film, presumably bringing back Michael Keaton in his role as the ghost with the most. I suppose we can hope for Winona Ryder’s return as well.

Rumors will gain traction, though, even if there’s not much to go on, and it’s not so far of a stretch to think that Burton will have at least some involvement with Beetlejuice 2. I personally think that we should be a bit more worried about the fact that Seth Grahame-Smith is behind the script. I don’t know that the man who wrote Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Dark Shadows is quite the person to do justice to a Beetlejuice sequel.

So, what do you think? Is Beetlejuice 2 a good idea? Do you want to see Burton involved? Let us know in the comments.
