New Trailer For Wolf Creek 2 Offers Up More Outback Terror

It's been a good 8 years since the psychotic Mick Taylor (John Jarratt) doled out his own brand of terror and torture on three unsuspecting backpackers in the heart of the Australian Outback. Now he's back and thirsty for more blood in writer/director Greg McLean's brutal follow up Wolf Creek 2, and the good people over at Roadshow Films have released this chilling new trailer to whet our appetite.

It’s been a good 8 years since the psychotic Mick Taylor (John Jarratt) doled out his own brand of terror and torture on three unsuspecting backpackers in the heart of the Australian Outback. Now he’s back and thirsty for more blood in writer/director Greg McLean’s brutal follow up Wolf Creek 2, and the good people over at Roadshow Films have released this chilling new trailer to whet our appetite.

Wolf Creek 2 continues the grisly exploits of the outback villain as two more backpackers decide to wander off the beaten path and have the misfortune of running into old Mick and his sniper rifle. It’s at this point that the film hits the ground running and doesn’t let up. Or so it seems.

All the makings of a classic horror film are here: two clueless protagonists in the wrong place at the wrong time, a severely deranged nutjob of an antagonist who takes pleasure in the suffering of others, and an intensely staged game of cat and mouse as said protagonists fight for survival.

The original Wolf Creek was a major hit in its native Australia, garnering a total of 11 Australian Film Institute award nominations, and has since become a cult horror classic. John Jarratt, who was most recently seen in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, was a very interesting choice for the part of Mick Taylor. To Australian audiences, he was most well known as the co-host of a lifestyle program called Better Homes And Gardens with his then wife, and as such, was seen as a very light and soft sort of character. To see him embody the villain of Wolf Creek was one of the main draws for the film, as it was a direct contrast to what Jarratt normally portrays onscreen.

Wolf Creek 2 hits Australian cinemas on February 20th, 2014, with no US release date confirmed as of yet. Leave a comment below and let us know if you’re keen for a second serving of Mick Taylor.
