Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak Is Not Changing Its Title, Will Release In April 2015

Contrary to what The Hollywood Reporter is telling us today, sources from within Guillermo del Toro’s production company can confirm that the director’s other-worldly and currently-in-pre-production Crimson Peak intends to still shoot under its original title; and that the production has only temporarily adapted the moniker Haunted Peak as a means of securing studio space.

Contrary to what you may have heard this morning, sources from within Guillermo del Toro’s production company can confirm that the director’s other-worldly and currently-in-pre-production Crimson Peak intends to still shoot under its original title; and that the production has only temporarily adapted the moniker Haunted Peak as a means of securing studio space.

This practice is not entirely unheard of in Tinsel Town. Those with protocol droid-like memory banks will recall that the infamous 1982 Yuma, Arizona Return of the Jedi shoot was veiled in secrecy as well, and was mysteriously referred to as Blue Harvest – so as to throw potential set-crashers off the scent of what was truly being shot in the middle of the scorching Arizona desert.

Crimson Peak stars Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska, Charlie Hunnam and Tom Hiddleston in what is being described as a “gothic romance.” Although the plot for Crimson Peak is being closely guarded, we can tell you that the film’s female protagonist will portray a young author “who discovers that her husband is not who he appears to be.”

Unsubstantiated rumors suggest that del Toro is aiming for an R-rated take on this tale, which would increase the sexiness quotient while simultaneously granting him the ability to expand upon his eerie set designs and ominous visual-atmospherics.

Crimson Preak is gearing up for a February start date at the famed Toronto Pinewood Studios and looks to frighten audiences worldwide come April 2015.
