Resident Evil: Begins To Be A Prequel

Screen Gems is currently gearing up to set the new Resident Evil film into production. Instead of making a sequel to the mediocre Resident Evil: Afterlife, they will instead make a prequel that will be called Resident Evil: Begins. The film will take place before the events of the first Resident Evil film. Milla Jovovich will still take on the role of Alice but she won't be the same ass kicking hero we've come to know, since the film takes place before the events from the first one. Apparently Jovovich won't be the lead either. Sienna Guillory, who plays Jill Valentine will take on the lead role as she deals with a viral outbreak in Raccoon City. Nothing else is known about the film yet but with a September 14, 2012 release date, you can be sure that we'll know more shortly.

I generally like this franchise. The last one wasn’t great but I found the first three to be quite entertaining. Milla Jovovich is awesome as well and really does kill it in the role. I think a prequel could be interesting and after the weak reviews of the last film, it may be exactly what this franchise needs.
