Formerly exclusive to the Windows 8 phone, Microsoft has confirmed that Halo: Spartan Assault will be coming to both the Xbox One and Xbox 360, complete with the Operation Hydra expansion pack that was released back in August.
Developed by Vanguard Games and 343 Industries, Halo: Spartan Assault is a top-down shooter that will fill in the storyline gap between the end of Halo 3 and the start of Halo 4. Think of it as a Halo-skin over the body of Super Smash TV.
For all you gamers who wanted a Halo title on your shiny new Xbox One, here you go! Seriously though, while it may not be a traditional entry in the series, it’s nice to have another solid launch title for the upcoming system.
Critical reaction to the original release was solid, as the title was praised for having that Halo-feel and being easily accessible. The two most maligned features of the game, touch screen control and micro-transactions, may or may not be in this version. I mean, they can always use the power of Xbox SmartGlass to run the game, but I doubt that will happen. Personally, I’m more weary of micro-transactions showing up.
Halo: Spartan Assault is scheduled for release on November 22nd for the Xbox One and Xbox 360. For those keeping track at home, yes, that is also the launch date for the Xbox One. We will have more coverage of the game as its launch date approaches.
