In case you don’t know, the Extended Edition of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released on Tuesday, both digitally and in stores. Coming in at a whopping 182 minutes, those who give this version of the film a watch will be treated to an additional 13 minutes of Middle Earth goodness that wasn’t shown in the theatrical cut.

“I’m thrilled that the Extended Edition will give fans the opportunity to experience certain key scenes in the film as they were originally shot, as well as an abundance of special features,” said director Peter Jackson. “It’s exciting to present this expanded and enriched version of An Unexpected Journey to allow fans to fully immerse themselves in the movie, before seeing the second part of the trilogy.”

To celebrate the release, and to get you ready for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which is right around the corner now, we’re giving away a code to download the Extended Edition of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on iTunes. It’s the perfect time to catch up with Bilbo and company and if you’re looking for the definitive way to watch the first film in Peter Jackson’s trilogy, this is it.
