If Deadpool ever does get made, it’ll be a film worth seeing if for nothing else than the perseverance it took to get the character onto the big screen. It seems like we’ve been hearing about this movie for years, and the entire time Ryan Reynolds has remained adamant about wanting to get everyone’s favorite merc with a mouth his own feature length film.

Just a week after the actor told us that the project is still alive and well, the currently-attached director, Tim Miller, revealed that he’s ready to get this thing going and that they’re just waiting on Fox to give them the green light.

Check out what Miller had to say below.

“We will never give up! Deadpool is still alive and we’re just waiting for the studio to embrace what an amazingly f***ing awesome film this would be. Ryan is ready, I am ready, the fans are more than ready, we just need that elusive green light.”

I realize that this is more news of nothing happening for Deadpool, but I’m a firm believer that any time we’re told this movie isn’t dead is a very good thing. It’d be easier for Reynolds and the others to have given up on this by now, but the fact that they’re still fighting, and fighting to do it right, is definitely a positive for Deadpool fans.

I’ve said before that this movie really won’t work unless it has a hard R-rating, so it’s great to see that those involved aren’t backing down on that either. We don’t want to see another Origins where Wolverine was toned down to far more mild of a character than he really is. While a PG-13 rating would open this movie up to a slightly wider audience, it isn’t like a Deadpool movie is going to break any box office records regardless of how it’s made. But if the film is done right, it can further expand Fox’s comic brand, and it should make quite a bit of dough for the studio as well.
