Alfred Hitchcock’s films are starting to be remade, slowly but surely. Both Strangers on a Train and Suspicion have been mentioned in the past as films that will be getting remade and now you can add one more to the list, To Catch A Thief. The film was optioned by Paramount back in 2004 and thanks to Latino Review, we were recently given an update on the status of the project. While speaking to screenwriter Josh Stolberg, he revealed that:

“I wrote, with Bobby [Florsheim], a remake of ‘To Catch a Thief’ for Paramount. Neal Moritz is producing, and it’s exciting because it’s one of my favourite Hitchcock movies and it was fun to come at it from a different angle – make it a little bit more modern and ‘gadgety.’ It’s the first script that I’ve ever written that [encompasses] a lot of heists and action sequences and.. it was a blast!” he said. “I’m really excited. We just turned in the script to the studio a couple of months ago and they’re working on casting now. It takes place in Santarini…it’s a travelogue of the most amazing places on Earth…it’s gonna be a fun, fun ride I think.”

Stolberg is the man behind Piranha 3D, Sorority Row and Good Luck Chuck. And if that didn’t give you enough faith in the remake, the man producing, Neal Moritz, has recently brought us gems like Fast Five, Battle: Los Angeles, and The Bounty Hunter. Now the only question that remains is who will take on the roles that Cary Grant and Grace Kelly previously played in the original? Well if the studio has Stolberg writing and Moritz producing, you can only imagine who they may choose for the starring roles.

Let the guessing begin!
