The Dark Knight Rises Adds Josh Pence

And just when you thought Armie Hammer was the only one getting credit for his role in The Social Network as the Winklevoss twins. Now we have news that Hammer's other half in the film, Josh Pence, is getting some recognition as Christopher Nolan has cast him in The Dark Knight Rises. For those unfamiliar with what I'm talking about, allow me to explain. In The Social Network, the Winklevoss twins were essentially played by one actor, Armie Hammer. This was achieved mainly with digital effects and some computer wizardry. That being said, there was another actor who had to be there for the majority of the scenes and although his face was never shown, he worked just as hard. That actor is Josh Pence, who acted alongside Hammer as his body double. Now while Pence did have a small cameo where his face was shown, he more or less received no credit for the role of the Winklevoss twins.

And just when you thought Armie Hammer was the only one getting credit for his role in The Social Network as the Winklevoss twins. Now we have news that Hammer’s other half in the film, Josh Pence, is getting some recognition as Christopher Nolan has cast him in The Dark Knight Rises. For those unfamiliar with what I’m talking about, allow me to explain. In The Social Network, the Winklevoss twins were essentially played by one actor, Armie Hammer. This was achieved mainly with digital effects and some computer wizardry. That being said, there was another actor who had to be there for the majority of the scenes and although his face was never shown, he worked just as hard. Hammer is the one who has been landing roles left, right and centre with the biggest one being in Clint Eastwood‘s J. Edgar. Well, now it’s time for Pence to shine. In The Dark Knight Rises he will play a young version of Ra’s Al Ghul, the villain from Batman Begins. THR tells us that “he will appear in scenes that take place 30 years prior to the present story.” So yes, that means there will be flashbacks in the film. Interesting.

Not sure how Nolan plans on incorporating flashbacks into the film but if there is a young Ra’s Al Ghul, does that mean there will be a younger version of other characters? Perhaps a younger Batman? If so, who would play the role? It’s all quite intriguing and as always, we’ll keep you posted.
