Russell Brand literally leapt over himself this weekend with Hop. The animated live action hybrid took the number one spot once again with approximately $21.6 million at the box office. Hop has grossed approximately $68.1 million in its ten-day run. Russell Brand’s other comedy, the reboot of Arthur, settled in for second place with approximately $12.6 million, averaging $3,848 in 3,276 theaters.

In a close third was Focus Features’ Hanna with and impressive $12.3 million. The film averaged $4,861 in 2,535 theaters, higher than what most industry experts had expected. Soul Surfer, the movie adaptation based on the real life story of surfer Bethany Hamilton also made an impressive run at the box office with $11.1 million this weekend. The drama starring Anna Sophia Robb, Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt averaged $5,014 with the low theater count of 2,214 theaters.

The James Wan and Leigh Whannell horror flick Insidious managed to lose only 26% of its business since its debut last week and rounded out the top five with a strong $9.7 million. If the numbers are correct, Insidious has managed to break even thanks in part to its low production budget of $1.5 million. The film has grossed $27 million in its ten-day run.

In sixth place was the low-brow medieval comedy Your Highness with $9.5 million, averaging $3,438 in 2,769 theatres and in seventh place was Source Code with an even $9 million. The Duncan Jones sophomore film has earned $28.6 million in its ten-day run.

Summit Entertainment’s Limitless took the eighth spot with $5.6 million, taking its four-week run to a grand total of $64.3 million while Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules placed in ninth with $4.9 million, taking its three weekend run to $46.4 million. Lastly, Matthew McConuaghey’s crime drama The Lincoln Lawyer rounded out the top ten with $4.6 million, and has grossed $46 million in its four-weekend run.
