Nintendo Beckons Gamers Down Memory Lane With NES Remix For Wii U

The NES Remix, which features homages to sixteen games from the twilight years of the Nintendo Entertainment System, was announced during this morning’s Nintendo Direct. Available from today through the company’s eShop, the all-new, Wii U exclusive is essentially a highlights reel that draws upon beloved franchises, such as The Legend of Zelda and Donkey Kong, all the while implementing novel features and challenges.

The NES Remix, which features homages to sixteen games from the twilight years of the Nintendo Entertainment System, was announced during this morning’s Nintendo Direct. Available from today through the company’s eShop, the all-new, Wii U exclusive is essentially a highlights reel that draws upon beloved franchises, such as The Legend of Zelda and Donkey Kong, all the while implementing novel features and challenges.

With Link making an appearance in Donkey King’s realm and Mario tasked with completing an inverted level in Mushroom Kingdom, Nintendo’s new, 8-bit game collection looks set to reappropriate your childhood memories to great effect. NES Remix will also encompass a litany of other gems from that particular era in gaming, including Ice Climber, Super Mario Bros. and Excitebike.

It was also confirmed that NES Remix will include 200 unlockable stages, as well as support through Nintendo’s Miiverse and online leaderboards — so you can boast about your retro in-game achievements, including your records on each of the individual stages, with the rest of the world.
