Klei Entertainment, the creative minds behind survival horror title Don’t Starve, is open to the possibility of bringing the gothic tale to PlayStation Vita, according to the studio’s Twitter page. In response to a fan’s request, the developers stated that it is currently focusing on fine-tuning the PS4 edition, although a Vita port isn’t outside the fantastical realm of possibility.

Having made its debut on PC platforms back in April of last year, Don’t Starve has carved out an audience in the community for its difficulty spikes use of permadeath. The critically-acclaimed indie, which will appear on the Instant Game Collection for PS Plus subscribers in North America and Europe on January 7th and 8th, respectively, also drew praise for its Tim Burton-esque aesthetic and its compelling mix of crafting and exploration.

In the game, players assume the role of Wilson; a Gentleman Scientist who has been transported against his will to a garish netherworld full of nightly nasties. Thereafter, your job involves hunting down the demonic perpetrator, all the while hoarding resources and fighting to survive in Klei Entertainment’s twisted open-world.

Although the above Tweet doesn’t necessarily indicate a confirmation, a portable version of Don’t Starve makes perfect sense. Sony’s handheld has served as a fertile ecosystem for esteemed ports over the last few months, with console heavyweights such as Spelunky and Hotline Miami lighting up the OLED screen and showcasing the advantages of the Cross-Buy feature. Nevertheless, we’ll be sure to keep you posted should a Vita port be announced.

In the meantime, tell us, would you be interested in taking up the scientific adventures of Wilson on the go? Give us your thoughts below.
