Attention, fans of veteran developer Tim Schafer and his company Double Fine: It’s time to get excited as the studio announced today that the first half of Broken Age, their classically styled point-and-click PC adventure game, will soon be released via Steam Early Access to those who originally backed the game during its’ record-breaking Kickstarter campaign last year.
Despite raising $3.3 million through the popular crowdfunding site, the developer announced last July that the ambitious title, which chronicles the parallel tales of a boy and girl in two very different settings, would be split into two parts, with sales from both the first half and other Double Fine titles helping to fund the second half.
All 87,142 Kickstarter backers can expect to receive access to the first half on Tuesday, January 14. Additional details have not yet been given, but a recent Tweet from Schafer shows clear excitement for the launch and some interesting statistics:

As someone who loves adventure games, particularly some of Schafer’s LucasArts-era work (Grim Fandango is probably in my all-time top 10), I donated to the Kickstarter upon its initial announcement and look forward to trying out the first half of the game. And for the record, I believe the games he referring to here are Brütal Legend (4.5 years), Grim Fandango (16 years), and Full Throttle (20 years).
