Batman vs. Superman Gets Pushed Back To 2016

Thank, god! Finally, someone has come to their senses and realized that the summer of 2015 is way too over-crowded and something has to go. Apparently, that someone is one of the studio execs at Warner Bros., as Variety is reporting that Batman vs. Superman has been pushed back to May 6th, 2016, giving the 2015 summer season a bit more breathing room.

As for what competition the film will face that month, well, there’s X-Men: Apocalypse opening on May 27th, but other than that, Warner Bros. should have no trouble dominating the box office for a few weeks. Then again, there’s also a mysterious Marvel project set to release that same weekend, but we haven’t heard anything about it yet. So for now, I’ll say that pushing the film back should help it at the box office. Not that it would have had trouble if it stayed in 2015, but the competition in 2016 is considerably less at the moment.

Aside from that, the delay might actually do the film some good. We know that the studio has had some trouble putting together their cinematic universe and, with more time on the schedule now, that means that there will surely be additional planning and preparation and thus, less of a chance that they’ll mess it up. After all, the official reason for the delay was that so “the filmmakers have time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.” Sounds good, right?

So, once again, Batman vs. Superman will not land in 2015. Instead, it will swoop into theaters on May 6th, 2016. Tell us, are you upset about the delay, or happy that your wallet will be a little less empty come next Summer?
