SXSW Announces 2014 Features Lineup

The South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) has announced their 2014 features lineup today and I must say, I'm kind of on the fence in regards to how I feel about it. On one hand, there's a ton of really exciting films playing here, like The Raid 2, Bad Words, Only Lovers Left Alive, Frank and a couple others. But on the other hand, a lot of these have already been screened at previous festivals. Although, I suppose when it comes to SXSW that's usually the case. If you want premieres you usually need to go to TIFF and Cannes.

The South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) has announced their 2014 features lineup today and I must say, I’m kind of on the fence in regards to how I feel about it. On one hand, there’s a ton of really exciting films playing here, like The Raid 2, Bad Words, Only Lovers Left Alive, Frank and a couple others. But on the other hand, a lot of these have already been screened at previous festivals. Although, I suppose when it comes to SXSW that’s usually the case. If you want premieres you usually need to go to TIFF and/or Cannes.

That being said, Jon Favreau’s Chef, the Veronica Mars movie and Zac Efron and Seth Rogen’s Neighbors (which looks quite funny), among others, will be debuting for the first time at the festival and I’m definitely looking forward to them all. I was hoping for a bit more of an impressive slate when it came to the premieres but still, it’s not horrible and I’m still very excited to be attending this year along with fellow WGTC writers Matt Donato, Alex Lowe, Perri Nemiroff and Justine Browning.

Check out the full list of films playing at SXSW on the following pages and let us know which ones you’re looking forward to seeing. And be sure to stay tuned as we’ll have coverage for you once the festival kicks off.
