Nobody Will Be Taken In Taken 3, Says Liam Neeson

Despite the fact that we really don't need a Taken 3, we're getting one anyways. Liam Neeson and Maggie Grace are set to return, as is director Olivier Megaton and writers Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen. While none of that sounds too promising, we did receive some positive news earlier this week when we heard that Forest Whitaker had signed on. Now, we're hearing something else that makes us a bit more optimistic.

Despite the fact that we really don’t need a Taken 3, we’re getting one anyways. Liam Neeson and Maggie Grace are set to return, as is director Olivier Megaton and writers Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen. While none of that sounds too promising, we did receive some positive news earlier this week when we heard that Forest Whitaker had signed on. Now, we’re hearing something else that makes us a bit more optimistic.

According to Bleeding Cool, Neeson promised a “really, really good story” and confirmed that nobody actually gets taken in the film, despite its title. Unfortunately, that’s all he would reveal about the plot but with production set to get underway later this year, more details may emerge in the coming months. If the actor is correct though in saying that nobody gets taken, that’s certainly an encouraging sign. A third film with a similar plot would have spelt disaster, so it’s nice to see that the script may actually offer up something fresh this time around.

As of now, I’m still not too hot on Taken 3. The original was a great movie but its follow-up was just so bad that it really left a bitter taste in my mouth towards the series as a whole. Whitaker’s involvement is promising, as is the fact that they intend to change the story up, but until we know more about what exactly they have planned I’m going to remain on the fence.
