Activision has confirmed today that their beta for the highly anticipated Destiny will begin this Summer. The confirmation came during an earnings call, where CEO Eric Hirshberg stated that the company is expecting record pre-orders for the game.

“Together, we are bringing gamers an ambitious and innovative game which combines the intensity of great first-person action, with the character investment and social connections of an RPG in an immense connected universe. We believe the game is on track to deliver record pre-orders for a new franchise, a public beta is planned for summer and we expect to launch the game on September 9,” said Hirshberg. “We look forward to expanding this universe for years to come and you’ll see much more in the months ahead.”

Unfortunately, or fortunately (depending on which system you own), PlayStation owners will be getting the beta first. At the moment, the only way to gain access is by pre-ordering the game, so if you want to get your hands on Destiny early, you know what to do.

Coming to us from Halo developer Bungie, anticipation is extremely high for this one and understandably so. I’d say that Destiny is arguably 2014’s most exciting game and with the beta only several months away now, it won’t be long before we can finally see just what Activision has in store for us with what they’re hoping is their next billion dollar franchise.
