New Pompeii Clips Promise Fire And Destruction

If you like your films with a healthy dose of swords, sandals and shirtless men, Q1 2014 has likely been a pretty exciting time for you. January saw Kellan Lutz's The Legend of Hercules storm into theatres and this month, Paul W.S. Anderson is bringing us Pompeii. That's not all though, as next month the trend will continue when Sullivan Stapleton leads an arm of angry Greeks to war in 300: Rise of an Empire. Three films in three months might be overkill, but it's definitely a good time to be a fan of this particular genre.

If you like your films with a healthy dose of swords, sandals and shirtless men, Q1 2014 has likely been a pretty exciting time for you. January saw Kellan Lutz’s The Legend of Hercules storm into theatres and this month, Paul W.S. Anderson is bringing us Pompeii. That’s not all though, as next month the trend will continue when Sullivan Stapleton leads an arm of angry Greeks to war in 300: Rise of an Empire. Three films in three months might be overkill, but it’s definitely a good time to be a fan of this particular genre.

While The Legend of Hercules has already departed theatres, the next one to take the spotlight is Pompeii and with its February 28th release date quickly approaching, Sony is laying on the promotion. We saw a Super Bowl spot about a week ago, which didn’t do very much to change our mind on the film, and today, we have four new clips which again, are pretty much what we’d expect from a Paul W.S. Anderson-helmed swords and sandals flick.

There’s fire, destruction, chiseled men running around with little to no clothing….it’s basically Gladiator with angry volcanoes. But hey, if you’re into this sort of thing it could be fun. There’s nothing wrong with a little mindless entertainment every now and then, right?

Pompeii, starring Kit Harington, Emily Browning, Kiefer Sutherland and Carrie-Anne Moss, hits theatres on February 28th. Check out the clips below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
