Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate Listing Appears On Xbox Games Store

Handheld brawler Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate may be heading to the Xbox 360 later this year, if a listing that popped on the Xbox Games Store is to be believed. Allegedly set for a March 25th release, the game will feature an HD coat of paint and according to the description included, “new maps, enemy encounters, difficulty levels, batsuits and enhanced visuals.”

Released back in October for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate takes place following the events of Batman: Arkham Origins. Players step into the shoes of the Caped Crusader as he battles the various members of his rogues gallery in a 2.5-D style platformer that is reminiscent of the various Castlevania and Metroid titles released on the Nintendo family of handhelds.

I’m not sure how I feel about the trend of former handheld exclusives being ported to home consoles shortly after their original release. On the one hand, it opens the title up for a greater audience that may have missed it initially, specifically for games released on the PlayStation Vita, which doesn’t have the largest install base. On the other hand, this feels unfair to people who purchased the title originally, as the port is often not only cheaper, but also contains more content.

We will bring you confirmation of whether or not Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate does indeed come to home consoles when it becomes available.
