Not only is Forza Motorsport 5 the best-selling entry in Turn 10’s franchise, but the studio’s latest racing simulator is also the fastest-selling racing game in Xbox history. That’s according to Microsoft, who today unveiled a complimentary add-on track for the game in tandem with the announcement; the rather familiar Road America.

Having launched alongside the Xbox One back in November, Forza Motorsport 5 has since amassed close to 1.3 million sales — which equates to around one copy for every console. It’s worth keeping in mind though that a free digital copy of Turn 10’s racing sim was included in pre-order bundles of the Xbox One in Europe.

In terms of the track update, fans of the series will recognize the Wisconsin-based racetrack, which has appeared in previous Forza titles in the past. It will be available through the Careers events page for players, with the developer also introducing Road America-themed challenges to the game’s Rivals mode and multiplayer lobbies, too.

Those in possession of the game’s Car Pass can readily expect a quintet of super cars as part of the Road America Booster Pack, which is also available starting today. Among them include the Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 (1995), Ford Mustang Mach 1 (1975) and the Audi Sport North America R8 (2006), though Car Pass owners can expect further additions through until May, 2014.

In addition, an all-new Forza Horizon title is seemingly in the works for a 2014 release. According to a NeoGaf post in January, Microsoft is currently prepping a direct sequel to the 2012 spin-off that is due to be revealed at this year’s E3. Though it is by no means confirmed, it seems logical for Turn 10 to capitalise on the commercial success of Forza Motorsport 5.
