Today sees the release of the very first trailer for the supernatural film Jinn, directed by Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad. What is a Jinn, you ask? Well, they are spiritual creatures that are common in Arabic folklore and are mentioned in several Islamic texts. Apparently, the concept is quite well known.

Here’s the official plot summary for more details:

In the beginning, three were created. Man made of clay. Angels made of light. And a third made of fire. For centuries, stories of angels and men have captured the imagination and been etched into history crossing all boundaries of culture, religion and time. These two races have dominated the landscape of modern mythology, shrouding the evidence that a third was ever created. This third race, born of smokeless fire, was named the jinn. Modern man has all but forgotten this third race ever existed. It is time for him to remember.

Now that you’re all caught up with what the Jinn are, it’s time to check out the trailer, which can be seen below. It sets up the mythology of the film by explaining to us briefly about the three races that were created. Once that’s out of the way, we get a look at the spiritual creatures themselves as they terrorize humans and chase after cars.

Admittedly, the Jinn do look pretty creepy and the whole concept of them is rather interesting. Having read through some of their Wikipedia page, I can safely say that I’m intrigued to learn more. Despite some shoddy CGI and a bit of questionable acting, Jinn still looks like it’s worth keeping an eye on and could very well be a solid entry into the supernatural/horror genre.

Take a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think.
