Eli Roth’s Next Film Will Be Knock Knock

Torture porn aficionado and Bear Jew Eli Roth will be returning to the director's chair to follow up The Green Inferno with another movie that will no doubt involve long, overly-detailed torture sequences that will appeal to the sort of people I generally try to avoid on the subway. The title of that movie also happens to be the first two words of every joke you've ever heard from a five year-old girl: Knock Knock.

“Knock Knock.”

“Who’s there?”

“The most obvious joke I could have made about the title of Eli Roth’s next movie.”

“The most obvious joke I could have–Oh, I see what you did there.”

Torture porn aficionado and Bear Jew* Eli Roth will be returning to the director’s chair to follow up The Green Inferno with another movie that will no doubt involve long, overly-detailed torture sequences that will appeal to the sort of people I generally try to avoid on the subway. The title of that movie also happens to be the first two words of every joke you’ve ever heard from a five year-old girl: Knock Knock.

The plot revolves around two young girls who seduce a married man and then do terrible, unspeakable things to him because he is a filthy, awful person and in the world of horror movies that’s exactly what he deserves for his moral transgressions. It is being co-written by Roth and his Aftershock collaborators Nicolas Lopez and Guillermo Amoedo. Unlike Aftershock though, Roth himself will be directing.

In case you haven’t been paying attention to the horror movie scene for the last decade or so: Eli Roth became known from his 2002 film Cabin Fever, a gruesome movie about a group of college students who make a trip out to a cabin the woods only to to fall victim to a vicious flesh-eating virus (rather than the typical demons, zombies, or demon zombies). He then made the first two Hostel films, which have more or less become synonymous with the term “torture porn.” The Green Inferno is his latest effort, having debuted at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, and is an homage to trashy cannibal flicks like the infamous Cannibal Holocaust.

Roth has announced plans to make a sequel to The Green Inferno, but it sounds like Knock Knock will come first. No release date has been announced yet but shooting will begin in April.

*That’s his character’s name in Inglourious Basterds; I’m not saying he’s a hairy, gay Jewish man.
