Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Receiving Next-Gen Price Cut

It appears that the latest adventure of the Big Boss will be available for a little cheaper than expected on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as Konami announced today that Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will now only cost $29.99 at both retail and digital stores. The stand alone prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will also be available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 at the same price for a physical copy and $19.99 for a digital copy.

Originally set to cost $40, this price cut comes on the heels of this month’s Game Informer feature on the title that claims that the “core story mission” will only take around 2 hours to complete. While there will be an assortment of side missions and collectibles for players to explore, there was still much outrage over the minuscule campaign.

Alongside this announcement, Konami also revealed that early purchases of Ground Zeroes will come with exclusive DLC that will also be utilized in The Phantom Pain. By purchasing the first batch of retail copies or from the digital store of their choosing, players will gain access to additional staff that will work alongside the Big Boss in his Mother Base headquarters.

Lastly, there will also be an app for the game that will provide additional features. The “iDroid” app will be available for iOS and Android and will let players listen to collected cassettes, look at maps and call in additional air-support.

The big news here is obviously the price cut for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the title. I’m still excited about playing through Ground Zeroes and probably would have purchased it at $40 regardless, but at least I won’t feel too bad paying $30 for a game that I already know won’t take long to complete.
