After journeying out to the sea with its last entry, the Risen franchise is returning to its medieval roots with Risen 3: Titan Lords. The latest instalment in Piranha Bytes’ cult franchise will be hitting the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC in August 2014.

Risen 3: Titan Lords features a plot that will be familiar to anyone with experience in the fantasy genre. Set in a world that has been abandoned by the Gods and in the middle of the devastating Titan Wars, a young hero has his soul taken from him by a mysterious entity. In order to retrieve his lost soul, our hero can either team up with a group of banned Mages, or any of the game’s other groups, and set out on a quest to take back what is rightfully his.

Bjoern Pankratz, Project Lead at Piranha Bytes, explained that this freedom is what the studio is going for with this entry.

“Like a carpenter with a handcrafted piece of furniture, we put together the story, the characters and the landscape until it all fits and the player has the possibility to discover things all around the place. You can try out and find things that others might not. Exploration is the key to our game”

We will continue to have coverage of Risen 3: Titan Lords in the lead-up to its August 2014 launch.
