Deadline is reporting that Catherine Zeta-Jones has joined Adam Shankman‘s Rock Of Ages. Apparently she’ll take on a role that was created specifically for the film. She’ll play the wife of the mayor of LA who is looking to get rid of rock and roll. Essentially a villain role. Zeta-Jones joins a cast which includes Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand and Julianne Hough.
Speaking on the role, Shankman said “it’s a character that we only really came to in the last month. The character was invented to streamline the stories. She is this hardcore, moral majority, arch-conservative who wants to shut down rock’n roll in the great city of Los Angeles. It’s like the musical gods just blessed us!”
The film is almost done casting now. Shankman just needs someone for the role of the mayor and someone to replace Amy Adams, who dropped out due to Man Of Steel scheduling conflicts. Considering the star power already involved, I’m sure Shankman will have no trouble pulling in some big guns.
Who would you like to see fill out the cast?
