Romance Is In The Air In Latest The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Featurette

It's my new goal to see as much of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as I can without ever setting foot in a theatre. Sony has been most obliging in this endeavor, releasing a never-ending stream of trailers, teasers, featurettes, clips, and promotional ads. The latest of these puts the focus on Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) and his relationship to the lovely and talented Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone).

It’s my new goal to see as much of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as I can without ever setting foot in a theatre.

While the featurette might not give away the whole plot, it certainly is making effort to do so. It contains brief clips of Garfield, Stone, producer Avi Arad, and even original creator Stan Lee discussing the complex relationship between Spider-Man and his best girl. The undeniable chemistry between Spidey and Gwen was arguably the best part of The Amazing Spider-Man and made huge strides away from the damsel-in-distress mentality that characterized the love interest in earlier Spider-Man flicks. Other than that, it’s still the old story, though: superhero has to save world and simultaneously navigate murky relationship waters with a woman who might be getting a little annoyed at being left hanging. It’s tough dating a hero, but then again, who can deny a man willing to write “I Love You” on the Brooklyn Bridge?

While Sony seems hell-bent on showing us every single plot point of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 before its premiere in May, this featurette at least reminds us that there’s more than just web-slinging going on. If Garfield and Stone can keep up the chemistry, it might very well justify the price of admission just to see what happens between them.

You can check out the romance and web-slinging in the video below, and then let us know what you think in the comments section. Will Spidey be able to hang onto Gwen? Will Sony ever stop the marketing campaign?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits cinemas May 2.
