Teaser Posters For Dumb And Dumber To Surface

When I first heard that the Farrelly brothers had signed Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels for Dumb And Dumber To, a sequel that seemingly no one was asking for, my initial reaction was "Why mess with a classic?" Was anyone out there yearning to find out what became of Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne 20 years later?

When I first heard that the Farrelly brothers had signed Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels for Dumb And Dumber To, a sequel that seemingly no one was asking for, my initial reaction was “Why mess with a classic?” Was anyone out there yearning to find out what became of Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne 20 years later?

Comedy sequels have a proven track record of being far worse than the originals, dating back to Caddyshack and leading up to the inane, studio cash-in Hangover follow ups. Nostalgia has shown time and again to be a poor motivator for comedic gold, yet it hasn’t stopped studios from trying.

Our guess is that Jim Carrey wants to be able to buy Canada one day and Jeff Daniels has a burning desire to throw away the goodwill he has built up with his recent work on The Newsroom, because despite no public outcry for this movie, we are getting it anyways.

Today, two teaser posters have surfaced and as I imagined, they aren’t bringing anything new to the table. Instead, they rely on twenty and thirty-somethings’ fond memories of the classic fundraiser sequence in the first film to spark an interest. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really do much for me and I still can’t say that I have much excitement for this one.

Dumb and Dumber To will make its way into theatres (and presumably right back out of them within two weeks) on November 14th, 2015. Check out the two posters below and let us know what you think.
