Deadline is reporting today that Disney's Frozen has now become the highest grossing animated film of all time. Previously, the prestigious record was held by Toy Story 3. Deadline is reporting today that Disney’s Frozen has now become the highest grossing animated film of all time. Previously, the prestigious record was held by Toy Story 3. Not only is Frozen the highest grossing animated film ever, but it’s also on the top 10 worldwide box office chart now, shoving out Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. It doesn’t stop there, either. Frozen just recently opened in Japan and it’s expected to do big numbers there as well, so expect its box office total to continue to grow.

This news, while impressive, is most definitely surprising, as I doubt that anyone could have predicted it before the film released. I mean, I’m sure that Disney knew they’d make bank on Frozen, but to de-throne Toy Story 3? I think we all thought that it would be a long, long time before a film could take Pixar’s spot at the top.

Don’t get me wrong, Frozen isn’t a bad movie. Though I admittedly didn’t fall in love with it like the rest of the world did, it was still an enjoyable adventure with some great music. I just never would have expected it to be the film to take the honor of being the highest grossing animated flick of all time. Seeing as it has though, I guess this means that a Frozen 2 is all but confirmed, right?

Tell us, are you as surprised by this news as we are, or did you always have high hopes for Frozen? Sound off below!
