David S. Goyer Wants To Reboot Green Lantern

Despite the fact that the last time Warner Bros. and DC Comics tried to put Green Lantern on the big screen it ended in disaster, writer David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy) still wants to give the character the feature-film that he deserves. While speaking to Collider, he said that he would love to reboot the property at some point, though he didn't go into any further detail, unfortunately.

Despite the fact that the last time Warner Bros. and DC Comics tried to put Green Lantern on the big screen it ended in disaster, writer David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy) still wants to give the character the feature-film that he deserves. While speaking to Collider, he said that he would love to reboot the property at some point:

“I would love to do ‘Green Lantern,’” Goyer said when he was asked about the way the alien world was depicted in Man of Steel versus how it was shown in Green Lantern. “I really wanted to showcase Krypton as a truly alien world. That was one of the things I wanted to do from the beginning when I got involved in the project. At his heart, Superman’s always been a science fiction story. I wanted to lean into that, and so did Chris, and so did Zack, so I was just glad we were able to.”

Though Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern was a more or less faithful adaptation, it was slammed pretty hard by critics and failed to turn a profit on its reportedly $200 million budget. That being said, there is potential with the property and having someone like Goyer reboot it would probably be a pretty smart idea. After all, the character will surely appear in the upcoming Justice League film so giving him his own solo outing as well would definitely make sense.
