Although the game feels like a great fit for the device and its highly-promoted second screen, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate – Deluxe Edition has received a Wii U-specific delay.

Despite being scheduled for release on all of its targeted platforms this very week, the 2.5D/Metroidvania game has yet to make an appearance on Nintendo’s eShop, yet is said to have been released onto other services. That omission led Eurogamer to follow up with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, which stated that the Wii U release is now slated for “later in April.” Why that is, we don’t know.

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate – Deluxe Edition is a console and PC-based update to what was originally a portable (3DS/Vita) only title. The game — which is inspired by the titles of yesteryear and is heavy on puzzles, backtracking and exploration — received a middling review score when we first took a look at it. Still, Bat fans and those who love the Metroidvania formula will find entertainment within its campaign.

Look for Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate – Deluxe Edition on PSN, XBLA, Steam and, in time, the Wii U’s eShop.
