Writing For Wreck-It Ralph 2 Has Begun

Shortly after Wreck-It Ralph was released, there were hints of optimism about a sequel from both director Rich Moore and star John C. Reilly. Since then, there really hasn't been much in the way of solid information about Wreck-It Ralph 2, but recently, composer Henry Jackman dished on the project. Shortly after Wreck-It Ralph was released, there were hints of optimism about a sequel from both director Rich Moore and star John C. Reilly. Since then, there really hasn’t been much in the way of solid information about Wreck-It Ralph 2, but recently, composer Henry Jackman dished on the project. While he didn’t have too much to say, he did confirm that the story is currently being written.

Collider was speaking with Jackman about his work on Captain America: The Winter Soldier when they found the opportunity to sneak in a couple of questions about Wreck-It Ralph. The composer was able to confirm that writing has begun, but beyond that he either didn’t have any information, or he’s staying tight-lipped on the knowledge he does have.

“I did, to be honest with you.  I can’t tell you more, not because I’m being coy, but I believe that it is officially on the cards.  I don’t know any more other than a story is indeed being written,” said Jackman.

I’m very glad to hear that Wreck-It Ralph is getting a sequel. As a fan of both video games and the glory days of Disney animation, it was a movie that appealed to me on many levels, and I know I wasn’t alone. While the original film featured the voice talents of Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch, there’s no word yet on who might be returning, though I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet that at least Reilly will be back to reprise his role.

We probably won’t have any solid information on the sequel for at least a couple of years, as Disney has quite a busy slate and animated films aren’t a quick process. Still, be sure to check back with us as we’ll bring you further updates on Wreck-It Ralph 2 as they become available.
