To be perfectly honest, I think that I’m looking forward to Godzilla more than any other summer blockbuster coming out this year. I’m pretty stoked for Guardians of the Galaxy, too, but Gareth Edwards’ upcoming remake takes the cake. Admittedly, I may turn out to be wrong when all is said and done, but as of now, I think that this will be the film to beat.
Everything we’ve seen so far from Godzilla has me thinking that it’s going to be one hell of a terrifying and bone-chilling experience, and this new, extended look that Warner Bros. released over the weekend does nothing to change that. There’s a palpable sense of dread throughout the footage that had me completely hooked and the few glimpses that we get of the titular monster are enough to send chills down even the most jaded horror movie fan’s spine. I really do think that Edwards has nailed down the look and feel of the iconic creature and I could not be more excited to see what he has in store for us.
Godzilla roars into theatres on May 16th and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston and Ken Watanabe, among others. Check out the new extended look below and let us know if you’re ready for what I think is the movie of the summer.
