Check Out This Slightly Extended Guardians Of The Galaxy Clip

Marvel's upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy might be a bit of a watershed moment for the superhero franchise world. It's one of the first Marvel films to depart from the known universe of Avengers and avenging-type things, and features characters that most of those outside the comic book community have never heard of. While there are plenty of big names attached to the project, including Chris Pratt, John C. Reilly, and director James Gunn, there's no one near the level of Robert Downey Jr. In other words, Guardians of the Galaxy has the potential to prove that comic book films can continue to be box office smashes even when they're slightly less well known to the general public.

Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy might be a bit of a watershed moment for the superhero franchise world. While there are plenty of big names attached to the project, including Chris Pratt, John C. They’re going to have to do better than this latest clip, though. Little more than a glorified extension of the first trailer, the footage features Chris Pratt’s “brash adventurer” Peter Quill pulling an Indiana Jones move in an alien temple, only to be caught by a peace officer played by Djimon Hounsou. Then we have a few more shots of characters such as Groot, the alien tree, and Rocket Raccoon, the…raccoon. None of which tells us much about the film, or makes it look like anything more than your average comic book romp that will probably start out very humorous and get very serious right before the end.

I might be a little down on Guardians of the Galaxy solely because they brought back the song “Hooked On A Feeling,” which I had hoped was dead and gone. But in all honesty, I’ve seen nothing in either the first trailer or this clip to convince me that there’s anything new in this film that hasn’t been done by other action and comic book films over the past ten years, brash space adventurers and talking trees notwithstanding.

You can check out the latest clip from Guardians of the Galaxy below. The film comes out on August 1, and will probably make a lot of money.
