2015 will see Sabotage star Terrence Howard back on the big screen in Term Life – a cat-and-mouse, road movie-crime drama based on the graphic novel by Nick Thornborrow, adapted by A.J Lieberman.

With Vince Vaughn and Hailee Steinfeld (3 Days To Kill) filling the lead roles, Term Life sees a thief who plans and sells heists, take his estranged daughter on the run when a job goes awry. Finding themselves hunted by corrupt cops, mob bosses and contract killers, he takes a shot at redemption by initiating a life insurance policy, guaranteeing a legacy for his daughter when the inevitable happens. Unfortunately for him, it doesn’t kick in for 21 days.

Terrence Howard will play Sheriff Braydon – a small-town law enforcer who crosses paths with the fugitives as they pass through his jurisdiction. The cast also features Bill Paxton (2 Guns) and Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad), in addition to the film seeing the onscreen reunion of regular collaborators Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau. The third part of the Vaughn/Favreau creative gang is actor/producer/director Peter Billingsley (Couples Retreat), who takes the helm here.

Term Life has had a troubled gestation, seeming to find itself caught up in executive-level changes at Universal. Having cancelled the production just a month after casting Hailee Steinfeld opposite the film’s star and producer Vince Vaughn last year, the studio then revived the project and charged full-steam ahead. That being the case, we hope that with talented individuals such as Howard, Paxton, Favreau and Billingsley on board, the equally-talented Vince Vaughn can return to the form he enjoyed in 2006’s The Break-Up, rather than the disappointment of 2013’s Delivery Man. The pressure is certainly on the script and its writer – A.J Lieberman – whose most recent screenwriting credit is 2004’s Dead Lawyers.

Cameras are now rolling on Term Life, with its release estimated for early 2015.
