Nintendo has announced that beginning on April 22, they will be dropping the prices on several popular 3DS titles. Owners of the handheld will be able to purchase Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land and NEW Super Mario Bros. 2 for only $29.99 each. These prices will take hold in both retail stores and on Nintendo’s eShop.

With a combined 9 million copies sold between them, this is a pretty popular group of titles, which makes the cuts even more surprising as Nintendo rarely drops the prices for games in their top tier franchises. Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely not complaining about this, it’s just that I didn’t expect to hear that games like Mario Kart 7 and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D would be marked down.

If you are a Nintendo 3DS owner and have yet to experience any of these titles, we highly recommend you pick one, if not all, of them up when the discounts take effect on April 22.
