Ever since its much welcomed resurrection, Hammer Films has brought us unforgettable horror movies like The Woman In Black and Let Me In, both of which remind us what made them so great in the first place. Their latest release, The Quiet Ones, continues that tradition as it combines old school scares with the found footage genre and surprisingly, the results are quite effective.
The movie stars Olivia Cooke as Jane Harper, a deeply troubled young girl who harbors unspeakable secrets which leave her in a seemingly permanent state of melancholy. It is up to Professor Coupland (Jared Harris) and a team of university students, which includes cameraman Brian McNeil (Sam Claflin), to cure her through a series of experiments. Soon after they begin though, they end up unleashing dark forces that are completely out of their control and far more terrifying than they ever could have expected.
Last week in Los Angeles, a press day was held for The Quiet Ones at the Chateau Marmont. While there, I had the privilege of speaking with the Harris, Claflin and Cooke. Together, they discussed what kind of research they did for their roles, the challenges Olivia faced with playing such an emotionally disturbed character, and at the end, Harris reminisced about some of his favorite Hammer films.
You can check it all out in the video below, and be sure to catch The Quiet Ones as it’s now playing in theatres everywhere!
