New Promo Image And Synopsis For Marvel’s Agent Carter TV Series

Yesterday, ABC announced that they would be staying in the Marvel business by not only renewing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a second season, but by ordering Agent Carter straight to series as well. Hayley Atwell will reprise her role as the fan-favorite co-founder of S.H.I.E.L.D., Peggy Carter. For those unfamiliar with the character, she showed up in Captain America: The First Avenger, her own Agent Carter One-Shot short film, and had a brief appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Fans have been clamoring for a female-led Marvel Studios project for a while now, and while it may be a few years before we see a superheroine lead her own film, Agent Carter is a great start. Atwell has been fantastic as Carter and is easily one of the most memorable and endearing love interests that we’ve seen in a superhero film. It was upsetting to see Cap’s story jump ahead seventy years in The Winter Soldier, leaving Peggy in the past, so the fact that we’ll be able to watch her own adventure week-to-week is incredibly exciting.

Following the announcement of the series pickup, ABC released a promo image (seen above) and official synopsis, which only helps raise our anticipation for the new series:

“Marvel’s Agent Carter,” starring Captain America’s Hayley Atwell follows the story of Peggy Carter. It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” along with the short “Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.”

Starring Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, “Marvel’s Agent Carter” is executive produced by Christopher Markus, Steve McFeely, Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Jeph Loeb.

As of right now, we don’t know who will round out the cast or when we can expect the show, but stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, tell us, are you excited for an Agent Carter series? Sound off in the comments below!
