Latino Review is at it again with their Marvel rumors and this time, they’re telling us that Zac Efron is in talks with the studio for a role in one of their upcoming films. Aside from mentioning that the actor was given a script for the project, that’s as far as the rumor goes.

Now, as with most of Latino Review’s scoops, this one could go either way. On one hand, we know that Efron is super hot right now, coming off the very successful comedy Neighbors and proving himself to be a bonafide Hollywood talent thanks to a streak of solid roles. It’s clear that most of the studios want a piece of him (he was in the running for Star Wars: Episode VII at one point) and honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Marvel wanted to get in on the action, too.

On the other hand, though, I’m not quite sure if Efron is at that stage yet where he can lead a superhero film. He’s only just starting to re-invent his career and gain mainstream respect. Many people still see him as the High School Musical kid. It’s only been in recent years that he’s started to prove himself as a respectable leading actor. While I personally enjoy his work and find him to be a very charismatic and likeable talent, I’m not sure that the fanboy world would feel the same. Casting Efron has a superhero might very well backfire on Marvel.

At the end of the day, I have no doubt that the studio, at the very least, as their eye on him. I just wouldn’t count on anything coming of it. At least, not yet.

Tell us, would you like to see Zac Efron in a Marvel film?
