Exclusive Video Interview With Michael C. Hall And Jim Mickle On Cold In July

Jim Mickle has been one of the most interesting American filmmakers to watch over the last couple of years. After first putting himself on the map with the chilling vampire tale Stake Land, the director followed it up with the equally terrifying We Are What We Are. Now, he's gearing up to release Cold in July, an adaptation of Joe R. Lansdale's crime novel of the same name.

Jim Mickle has been one of the most interesting American filmmakers to watch over the last couple of years. After first putting himself on the map with the chilling vampire tale Stake Land, the director followed it up with the equally terrifying We Are What We Are. Now, he’s gearing up to release Cold in July, an adaptation of Joe R. Lansdale’s crime novel of the same name.

Starring Michael C. Hall, Sam Shepard and Don Johnson (and yes, that cast is just as awesome as it sounds), Cold in July is a Texas-set noir thriller that sees the former Dexter star playing a different kind of killer. Here, Hall plays Richard Dane, an ordinary family man who accidentally murders an unarmed intruder one night. When he’s confronted by the intruder’s father though, he learns that some of the pieces of the puzzle don’t quite add up and begins to suspect that the cops are hiding something from him. Together, the two men investigate further and quickly find themselves tangled up in something far more dangerous than they could have ever imagined.

Oozing with style and filled to the brim with terrific performances, Cold in July is one hell of a watch. It will no doubt please hardcore Mickle fans and should keep even the most casual moviegoers entertained throughout. The film really is a ton of fun and I highly suggest you check it out.

Recently, Mickle and Hall were in New York City doing some press for the film and I had the privilege of sitting down with them for an extended, 15 minute interview about Cold In July. They spoke about why it took so long to get the movie made, why Hall found his role a nice change of pace after playing Dexter for so long, where Mickle drew his influences from and much more.

Check it all out in the video below and be sure to catch Cold in July when it hits theatres tomorrow!
