Battlecry Will Offer A New Way To Kill Your Friends In 2015

Earlier today, Bethesda confirmed that the latest project they’re attached to is a 32-person, free-to-play title called Battlecry, which should be released sometime next year. The game is being developed by Half-Life 2 and Dishonored designer Viktor Antonov, so it’s no surprise that it's set in a post-apocalyptic world.

Okay. I didn’t see this one coming.

Earlier today, Bethesda confirmed that the latest project they’re attached to is a 32-person, free-to-play title called Battlecry, which should be released sometime next year. The game is being developed by Half-Life 2 and Dishonored designer Viktor Antonov, so it’s no surprise that it’s set in a post-apocalyptic world.

The story here is that all gun powder has been banned following a cataclysmic world war during the early part of the 20th century. Traditional combat as we know it is merely something found in history books, and all conflicts are now settled by elite teams in sanctioned WarZones.

It sounds like things are going to be a bit on the “bat-shit” crazy side. Melee and ranged weapons mix iron and energy, creating some fairly fantastic pieces of weaponry. As such, you’ll be able to wield swords that can be used as shields, electrified blades and arrows that are capable of piercing the toughest armament.

Check out Battlecry‘s preview trailer, then let us know what you think. While it doesn’t show any gameplay (and there’s a surprising lack of hats for a free-to-play online game), it does show someone literally losing their head. That’s enough to merit at least a look, right?
