Exclusive New Images From They Came Together, Starring Amy Poehler And Paul Rudd

Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd are two comedians who can really do no wrong. Poehler did a bang-up job hosting the Golden Globes two years in a row (alongside celebrity gal pal Tina Fey), and she's also the star of NBC's Parks and Recreation, one of the funniest shows on TV. And for his part, Rudd has toplined some hilarious films (Role Models and I Love You, Man come to mind), been an integral supporting player in others (Anchorman, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and has even done great work in dramas (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Prince Avalanche). The actor also has a little film called Ant-Man in the works. So, it's safe to say that Poehler and Rudd are two of the funniest and most enjoyable performers around right now. This summer, they'll share the screen in David Wain's They Came Together - and we've got you covered with exclusive images from the film which we're happy to be premiering today.

Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd are two comedians who can really do no wrong. Poehler did a bang-up job hosting the Golden Globes two years in a row (alongside celebrity gal pal Tina Fey), and she’s also the star of NBC’s Parks and Recreation, one of the funniest shows on TV. And for his part, Rudd has toplined some hilarious films (Role Models and I Love You, Man come to mind), been an integral supporting player in others (AnchormanForgetting Sarah Marshall) and has even done great work in dramas (The Perks of Being a WallflowerPrince Avalanche). The actor also has a little film called Ant-Man in the works. So, it’s safe to say that Poehler and Rudd are two of the funniest and most enjoyable performers around right now. This summer, they’ll share the screen in David Wain’s They Came Together – and we’ve got you covered with exclusive new images from the film which we’re happy to be premiering today.

In typical Wain fashion, They Came Together subverts the romantic comedy genre with big, often absurd laughs. The film follows Joel (Rudd), an executive whose Big Corporate Candy company threatens the business of small-time candy shop owner Molly (Poehler). When they meet, it’s hate at first sight, but the two eventually wind up together, exploring the perils of love.

Wain’s film takes shots at the soulless, big-studio rom-coms that too often make their way into theaters. It’s R-rated, and early reviews have suggested that the director follows through with some very raunchy material. With a talented supporting cast in tow (Ed Helms, Bill Hader, Cobie Smulders), expect this to be one of the funnier films to arrive this summer.

You can check out the exclusive images below, along with the official plot synopsis for They Came Together, and let us know whether you’ll be lining up to see the film when it opens in theaters and on VOD on June 27th.

When Joel and Molly meet, it’s hate at first sight: his big Corporate Candy Company threatens to shut down her quirky indie shop. Plus, Joel is hung up on his sexy ex. But amazingly, they fall in love, until they break up about two thirds of the way through, and Molly starts dating her accountant. But then right at the end…well you’ll just have to see. (Hint: Joel makes a big speech and they get back together.)
